Wayfair Declares War on Ikea

Friday Video Goodness 14Sep23

Hey there,

Friday felicitations from our semi-irregular fusillade of creative inspiration.

It’s been a while. How have you been?

We’ll get to the brand attack shortly (as well as how to make a brilliant film about a boring product).

August is usually a little full on for film companies and we’re no exception. Since our last FVG we’ve had six shoots, including projects in France, Italy and Germany as well as one in a green screen studio. Busy fun.

One Zero One Studio in Birmingham

There’s a broad spectrum of videos this week, funny, crazy, thoughtful and creatively clever.

As always, we hope this brings you joy and inspiration. If it does, let us know and please share it. If it doesn’t then we’d love to hear from you anyway.

Team V.

Escape the Catalogue - Wayfair

Beware, this one is sharp. Wayfair have their claws out and they’re going for Ikea’s eyes. Not only is this a fun little dig at their competitor but they do it in a way that highlights what’s great about Wayfair too.

Nicely done.

Create Space for Precious Moments - Shurgard

There are two kinds of creatives in the world, the ones who get excited by a brief for a dull product… and the ones who aren’t very good.

This ad for self-storage company Shurgard is an excellent execution of a not very exciting product. It’s really well done, bravo to everyone involved.

New Office Uniform - True Classic

Of all the garbage we’ve bought off Instagram, True Classic tees are some of the few that we love. So it was a joy to see this cheeky ad from them.

Great product, funny ad, happy viewer.

2030 Status - Apple

This sustainability ad from Apple has divided Ad-land. Some people love it, some people hate it, a very small number of people think creativity is subjective and whatever you think is fine. We let cynicism rule for about 30 seconds and then really got into it.

Interested to know what you think.

What have we been up to?

Still here? Lovely. Thanks for staying with us.

Congratulations to to Alex, our new Production Assistant making his mark really well. He’s even getting his first producing gig off the ground in month 2.

Despite Summer getting in the way of doing things we’ve had a new website built. It looks EXACTLY the same as the old one but it’s about 20 times faster so if you want to go poke around we’d appreciate every flaw you can find.

That means we haven’t been able to update the blog for a while (new post coming next week) but the one we did a couple of months ago What does video production cost is still our most popular article.

Movie Trailer of the Week - Quiz Lady

That’s it from us. Have a thoroughly splendid weekend.
