Friday Video Goodness: Bond: Ballers
End your week inspired
Our semi-irregular shot of creative revelation
Good day to you. We hope you’re having a thoroughly splendid Friday.
The purpose of these emails is for you to end your week inspired and let that goodness marinade over the weekend. The first video here is a sports video and we’ve added it to our massive list of favourite sports videos on Pinterest. If that’s of interest to you we’d be happy to share it. Just reply to this email and we’ll send you an invite.
Anyway these things don’t write themselves. Onwards.
As well as Nike being all creative and smart there’s some interesting, slightly sweary work for World Vasectomy Day and crazy rabbits. Plus a movie trailer for Will Ferrell’s new movie.
We’ve also included a recent blog post on how to pick a corporate video location including a couple of pretty terrible examples of what not to do.
Have a magnificent weekend and remember, on February 28th the sun won’t set in the UK until 6pm. And it won’t set before 6pm again until the 29th October. Hello sunshine.
Team Vermillion
Beyond - Nike
I do love a snappy sports commercial and this one is really cleverly done. It doesn’t have the usual inspirational voiceover but what it does have is really, really clever cross cutting flashbacks. This basketball player is clearly a baller.
World Vasectomy Day
Recently it was the first Valentine’s Day since the overturn of Roe v. Wade in the United States. The conversation around reproductive care and family planning has always been one-sided, with those who can get pregnant being held responsible for birth control, when 100% of unwanted pregnancies are caused by testicles. Creator and comedian Ilana Glazer is also, clearly, a baller….
Tubi - Rabbit Hole
A lot of ad agency creative is just narcissistic and pretentious, but this one just lands and I love it. Starts with a bit of weirdness, has a bit of (as the BBFC would say) ‘mild peril’ and then actually pays off properly. Get it in your eyes.
Initially I thought this was a movie trailer. It’s actually a year old but it’s just rather lovely.
Movie Trailer of the week:
Strays
Jamie Foxx and Will Ferrell in what I initially thought was a family movie and is definitely not.
Jerry’s final thought…
That’s it. Thanks for absorbing all of our musings. If you want more we’ve got some well-thought out elucidations on how to choose a location. Enjoy.
